Good morning

Here is the little Bear waking up in the morning. Kimball gets him up (read wakes him up) before he leaves for work and brings him to bed with me. He nurses and goes back to sleep, I woke him up at 9 this morning. I just love how he wakes up with a smile on his face.

Look what Kimball did...

We got a smoking good deal on some bamboo flooring, so Kimball broke down and purchased it now.
It is solid hardwood, really nice...
this is the up close and personal view.
Kimball (with the help of my Dad) also installed this beautiful new ceiling fan in our kitchen/dining nook. It really helps to keep that room cool. So nice in this hot weather.

Bounce, bounce, bounce

Here is Barrett bouncing away in his little jumper, he loves this thing... ignore the background commentary : )

On a side note, I am having my gallbladder removed on Friday next week. I thought I was having bad acid reflux, but apparently I have non functioning, inflamed gallbladder with gallstones. Great! At least I will start feeling better after its all taken care of.

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day...
to my dad,
to my hubby and Bear's dad,
and to Kimball's dad.
My cousin Jill and her family came out to visit from NW Washington state. We had a good time with them. Took them out on the boat and had a blast. Wish they could have stayed longer... I miss my cuz!

Letting go

I have decided to follow the trend and update my blog... this was a little more difficult than I had anticipated... next time I think I will try this when Barrett is napping. Let me know what you think of the new look...
This baby no longer needs me to put him to sleep... I know I should be grateful that he can fall asleep on his own, but it makes me sad that he doesn't need me anymore. Actually, he doesn't even want to be held at night when he is tired. Just put him in his crib, turn on the mobile and he falls asleep all by himself.
We have been a little busy around our house lately. Kimball finally broke down and bought some paint and I painted the entry, hallway, and living room. It is a nice neutral color, but it really warms up the room. You may also notice that we have let go of the hand me down couches. We purchased this new couch, which ultimately led to the paint purchase. I love this couch, it is sooo comfortable, and I think it lends a nice classic look.
We also let go of the very nice, but outdated oak entertainment center. We are no longer two televisions in a living room people! Funny, how getting rid of little furniture really opens up the room. Of course, sharing one couch is not so enjoyable...
Our next purchase will be a couple chairs for the living room. Kimball also swears that we will eventually have new flooring... we are talking about doing some kind of wood, probably bamboo, in all the rooms but the sunken living room and bedrooms. I guess this will be quite a project so I am not counting on anything getting done right away. Kimball also has some landscaping projects in the works so that will probably take priority this summer, along with boating and dirt biking ; p

So tired...

Sunday night Barrett was playin in his jumper while I did some painting. I went into the kitchen for some water and his eyes were getting very heavy. He would start to fall asleep the wake right back up, smile and start bouncing again, it was hilarious. Here is is moments before he finally succumed to his tiredness.
He finally passed out and I snuck around to the dining room to get a picture or two...
Completely knocked out here...
But as soon as that flash went off, this is what he looked like...
Had to share, thought it was hilarious...

Backyard, Boating, New Friends, and Seattle Road Trip

It has been a very busy week for us. Barrett, my mom and I just got back from our road trip to Seattle. I should really say Washington because we actually never were in the city of Seattle.
The pictures below are from Memorial weekend, been trying to get outside since our weather has been so nice.
Barrett took his first boat ride Memorial weekend! My Aunt Linda came to visit from Eugene... we had a blast visiting and catching up with her. Barrett seemed to enjoy the boat ride which started out rather chilly but quickly warmed up.
Barrett finally met his friends Cypress and Salem (Shaun and Kenya's twins) and Cohen (Rob and Tiffany's son). Now, just try getting 3 babies and a toddler to sit still for a picture...
The road trip was so much fun, we visited so many people and had a blast. Barrett was really good the whole time, of course the 7 1/2 hour drive took us 10 hours on the way over but only 9 on the way back. We left Tuesday morning and stayed the night in Duvall with my friend Trina and her family, visited her grandparents the next day, then visited with the family I used to nanny for. Max and Ryan are now 12, they were 6 months when I started watching them! They have a little brother Jack who is 6. Tim was out of town but we got to spend some time with their mom Laurie which was lots of fun. Wednesday and Thursday nights we stayed with my dad's cousin Paul and his wife, Jeannie, then Friday we headed over to Poulsbo to see my friend Merit and her husband Alan. Barrett took his first ferry ride, which he seemed to enjoy. We walked around downtown Poulsbo and went to the Poulsbo Bakery and got some cinnamon rolls... yummy!
Saturday morning we drove down to Olympia and visited with my cousin Ron, his wife Shelli and their son Ryan and his family (wife Cecily and daughter Danika). Danika thought Barrett's binky was pretty interesting and tried to pull it out of his mouth. After that we drove north a bit to our family friend's Larry and Joyce and stayed the night there, then were off early in the morning to drive back home.
Barrett also tried some sweet potatoes on our trip which he loved and I gave him some bananas this afternoon and he gobbled those down and laughed and giggled the whole time. He went in for his 4 month checkup today and the doctor said he is a very healthy 19 pounds, 7 ounces baby boy! Yes, he is huge. He is off the charts for weight, 95% for height at 26 3/4 inches, and his head is in the 90% at 17 1/2 inches. He rolls from his tummy to his back, but still doesn't like to be on his tummy for too long. And by the way, he will drink formula and juice out a bottle but still won't take my breast milk from one. Of course it takes him forever to drink just one ounce but at least he isn't screaming.
Well, that is our update for the week... Posted by Picasa
